FROM THE SKETCH TO THE REVIVED PUPPET

Online exhibition of Demmeni Marionette Theatre puppets.

How are the images of the characters in the play born? What is a sketch? How does a sketch make a puppet? How does the puppet become alive? These and many other questions will be answered by Tatiana Melnikova, a production designer of the performance “Fantastic Adventures of Chizhik. Tale of Nevsky Prospekt”, which was recently premiered on the stage of the theater (the author of the play and director - A. Ustavshchikov).

Besides that, the exhibition visitors will get acquainted with the actress Anastasia Bulygina, the performer of the Chizhik part. “Fantastic Adventures of Chizhik. Tale of Nevsky Prospekt” is an engaging quest with the bird Chizhik as a main character, which is also a favorite character of St. Petersburg city folklore.

The curious bird breaks the magic clock belonging to the Theatre Domovoy (the Bogie). Hands of the clock fly out in different directions. A flood begins, and stunning time travel of Chizhik and Domovoy follows it — Nevsky Prospekt, St. Petersburg of different historical epochs, the Lion, the Griffins, the Sphinx and, of course, magic white nights.
