Master class for children and their parents on making dolls

At a time when it was impossible to buy a ready toy and outfits for it, people made dolls themselves. Especially for that, women laid beautiful ribbons and lacing, and each piece was worth its weight in gold. In the evenings, children asked their mother or grandmother to tell a fairy tale. The rag doll, made by hand, without a needle, was a supplement to the story. It was important not to mark the face of the doll, because it was believed, that a good or evil spirit could inhabit it through depicted eyes. One more important rule was to wind the threads counterclockwise. The rest was up to master's discretion.

Olga Donets as Pelagheya, the character of the KUKFO Theatre stage play “The Scarlet Flower”, will tell and show how to make your unique rag doll.

The participants of the master class will need pieces of fabric, cotton, threads on a reel, scissors and ribbons for decoration.
