“The Scarlet Flower” is a fairy tale by Sergei Timofeyevich Aksakov. Aksakov heard about the Scarlet Flower from the serf housekeeper Pelagheya, who lived in their manor house, and, being an adult, he remembered that he could follow this and many other stories of Pelagheya without ever stopping. The folklore interactive version of the fairy tale on the stage of the KUKFO is told by Pelageya the houskeeper performed by Olga Donets.
The fairy tale is based upon a classic story, where an enchanted young man, turned into a monster, meets a girl, whose love makes him a human again. Faith, kindness, and sincerity help characters overcome terrible trials.
