FAIRY TALE OF THE NIGHTINGALE, THE EMPEROR AND THE DEATH
St. Petersburg State Children's Musical Theatre “Zazerkalie (Behind the Mirror”
Running time — 2 hours and 15 minutes
6+
A Taoist parable in two acts and four transformations.
A well-known Andersen’s fairy tale about the events, that take place in Celestial Empire, came alive on the stage of “Zazerkalie (Behind the Mirror)” as an enchantingly beautiful, stylish oriental fairy tale — the Taoist parable that is fraught with the depth and wisdom of simple human truths. Can we always distinguish the voice of a live nightingale from the singing of an expensive mechanical toy, and precious gifts from the gifts of the heart? And are we always ready to meet our evil and good deeds in the face of death?
The play is a laureate of the festival “Theatres of St. Petersburg for Children” of St. Petersburg Branch of Theatre Union and a winner of a Special Prize of the Highest St. Petersburg Theatre Award “Golden Soffit”.
